Hello, My name is Mike. I had been going to a local gym for the last ten years doing basically the same workout and getting the same results. All I did was lift, making it through the same routines day after day. Dieting, walking, running and other weight loss strategies were tried with little results, and any results were short lived. I went to Golds gym soon after it was built and liked what I saw. The feeling I get in Golds gym is that people are there to work out. In my last gym the feeling was that of a social club with groups of people standing around the equipment making it difficult to work out. In Golds, people are there to work out and not so much to socialize instead of working out. The get it done atmosphere in Golds gave me the motivation to complete a routine and then move on to the next. I liked the felling at Golds and switched gyms. I came to Golds at the beginning of this year with no mental ability at all for cardio. A good stretch for me on a treadmill has always been the same - about 3 minutes and then (mentally) done. There was no way to stay on a piece of cardio equipment for any period of time, which would result in an elevated and sustained heart rate. Then, one day in March at 237 pounds my wife told me to go check out this movie room. I had seen the entrance before, but there was cardio equipment in there and I hated cardio. So I followed her into the movie room and got on a treadmill and began a medium paced walk. I started watching a movie and forgot that I was on a treadmill. I looked down at one point and was shocked that I had just reeled off 20 minutes on a treadmill. I stayed another 20 minutes watching the movie, and I may have even broken a sweat (unheard of). This was the beginning of me and the movie room. I got to a point where (no running) due to an old knee injury - I would put the treadmill at an incline of 15 and a speed of 3.8. After a week or so, I began to notice some weight loss and the movie room had become a new and positive habit. I made room in my life to be in the movie room, on a treadmill, at sometime - every day. I could not wait to get to the movie for my hour, including sometimes twice on the weekends. With this new found habit and the loss of a few pounds, I soon began to look at food differently. I would now look at food as I could eat that but I would need 1 hour on the treadmill to work it off - or I could eat this and it would only cost me 30 minutes on the treadmill. My new treadmill goal was to go just over an hour, or hit 1000 calories according to the treadmill. My eating soon changed to smaller meals more often. I began to really loose the weight, up to a few pounds a week. The best part of this movie room experience, is that I could see on the Golds scale, the weight was coming off every week at a sustained rate. Last week October I finally broke the 200 pound mark standing on the Golds scale at 199.8 pounds. The weight loss has slowed but continues, as I have dropped more than 37 pounds - most of it in about five months. My final goal is somewhere between 190 and 195 pounds. This is where I will continue with the cardio, plus add a more complete new body workout. The movie room taught me that I can actually do a daily treadmill work out, and make it my new habit. Over the last two months, I have been able to include the other treadmills with the TVs. I now like to use both the movie room as well as surf a few shows, while I continue to make cardio a daily habit. I never would have begun this treadmill routine and loose all this weight, without first finding the incredible Golds gym movie room. Have Fun
