Hello My name is Tim Latta and I am the founder of Liveaboard Sailboats on Face Book, my three daughters and I started that group 5 years ago while we were living aboard or Ericson 32 in south east Alaska. We lived on SV Thunder for 3 years preparing to sail around the world. Do to an unfortunate accident that boat was distroyed at the dock in the harbor in Ketchikan. Well all of that is anchient history now and it is getting to be time to move on and go to the lower 48 and buy a new boat, the girls and I have talked in depth about going back to the lifestyle of living on sailboats. The girls and I have desided that there is no better way for this family to live and they want to start finding a boat to move onto in March 2015. Ok this is were all of you come in. We need to find a boat and I would like to barrow your eyes and ears to find HER. We are looking for a liveaboard/cruiser sailboat between 33 and 4? feet long, the budget is in the neighborhood of 15k. I am a mechanic and carpinter and we would like a project boat but she must run, have good rigging, good hull and sails, the rest can be figured out as we go but we also dont want a boat that is just a hull and some sails, we need to be able to make the boat into a functioning liveaboar/cruiser without a total rebuild. Location does not really matter as long as it is in the US and not in Alaska or Hawai and must be ocean not lake. We also prefer older boats and are not afraid of a wooden boat and would consider other hull materials as well. The money for the boat and the move become available in January so we really need to locate a boat fairly soon.
