Hello Sisters, tomorrow is an exciting day for us! We began our journey four years ago with a small teardrop travel trailer that was two years old, but new to us. It appealed to me because it was new and pristine. Our vacations, truly were vacations with a nice clean home to bring along. It’s what Mary Jane is offering in her signature T@bitha. A way for people to get started glamping without all it takes, to restore a vintage trailer. We dearly loved that little trailer, but with hubby at 6” we really came to a point where we were crawling over one another on extended trips. We moved up in the same line to a trailer that had a wet bath and more floor room after 2 and a half years. It also, was pre-owned by two couples, but still in great shape. The drawback for us was there was no propane furnace to heat the trailer while we boondocked on trips leaving a still winter atmosphere in New England. You really have to get in a trailer and live in it to see what your needs and wants are. This trailer also had a smaller bed than the previous teardrop, which again posed problems with a 6” frame. I did toy with the idea of restoring a vintage ’67 Shasta trailer. Because we had an ’already done’ trailer to camp in, this one was going to be used to haul my flea market inventory to shows in total class! I did buy this trailer for so little money, it didn’t make sense to me to not buy it. After it sat in our yard untouched, I decided it would better serve someone who really wanted to restore it and camp in it. On to our new one baby! A life long dream of mine was to own an Airstream; we were actually looking at a vintage Bambi when we decided to buy our T@B. The difference between that stripped and deteriorating vintage trailer and the newness and comfort (all done) of the T@b was too compelling to not choose. So on Saturday for the first time, we are picking up a brand new, with all the bells and whistles, Airstream of our very own. Hubby calls it the ‘first step towards retirement’! I can only imagine how wonderful this ’home’ will be for us now and into the future! I’ll be back next week with lots of pictures and hopefully not to many stories! For now, Happy Trails!
