Hello amazing group.. I have a question for you.. I am applying an loan for constructing a house in my home country, India. The local bank, from which I am taking the loan, needs a proof of my income. As I work in a Belgian company, I have my payslips and bank account statement which can prove my income status. The bank asked me to get these documents attested by the Indian embassy here. Embassy says, as the documents are issued in Belgium, they must be attested by a Belgian authority as a pre-requisite for the Embassy to attest (or to be convinced the authenticity of the documents). But embassy could not tell me exactly which Belgian authorities shall I get it attested by. Have any of you went through such a situation or have any idea which competent authority can attest these documents ? (I checked diplomatie.belgium.be/en/services/legalisation_of_documents, but the types of documents didnt list bank statements/payslips). May be a notary ?
