Read about the very talented Mathias Baumann – Guitarist & Composer. Hes goooooooood! :) About: Dublin based guitarist Mathias Baumann is originally from Nassau, Germany. He has been playing music since age 5 and has been playing in various bands and countries since 1992. After coming to Dublin in 2005 he has been working as a session musician, composer, producer and guitar teacher. Mathias studied Jazz at Blackrock’s Newpark Music Centre, Ireland and finished his degree as a ‘Bachelor Of Arts In Jazz Performance’. Mathias recorded and released albums with different artists including Joe Casey, Susana Lima, Blue Spirit and Japanese Toys, to name a few. He is currently working with his own bands MBQ - ‘Mathias Baumann Quartet’ and MBG - ‘Mathias Baumann Group’. With both projects he is going to release an album in 2015. As a composer Mathias always searches for new harmonic and rhythmic textures with interesting melodic movement and powerful grooves. Extended arrangements are complimented by open improvisations so that interaction between the band members always drives his songs to new horizons.
