Hello everyone! Caleb here. Weve had quite a few new listeners join the ranks recently. Thank you! Welcome to the party! I am thrilled to see you all here. I thought I would take the time, since we have some new faces here in FB world, to talk about favorite games. I dont only mean favorite systems or editions of systems, but thats valid as well, since we all know that new editions can drastically change a game and its experience. For me, my favorite game is Call of Cthulhu. You might think its strange for me to say that. If youve listened to any recent shows, youll know that I typically am a combat-focused GM and that I enjoy the tactical aspects of encounters. To survive in Call of Cthulhu, it is usually best to avoid combat. This game is less about winning or accomplishing a goal and more about surviving in the face of the worst possible odds. I love the entire Lovecraft Mythos. I love the sheer and utter hopelessness it places humanity into. I think the story elements in a game like this, where there is no chance to succeed, are marvelous. The situations that players get themselves into and the ways they try to cope with the madness are always entertaining. And the evil grin I get as GM when I write plots for a Cthulhu game is just plain fun. So what about you guys? Whats your favorite game and why? Is it the setting? Or maybe a specific character or creature? Or maybe its the mechanics of the rule set? Please share!
