Hello everyone! I am totally new to raising chickens, and Ive been suspicious that my babies have a parasite because they are itchy and one seems to have a few bald spots...so I did some close up investigating, and found what I think are poultry lice. I did read the Chicken Chicks blog about them, but just want to double check my awesome sources of information...you guys!!! So, first question...they are breed specific, right? Can my dogs get infested? Can I? Second question...from experience, what are the best treatments to get rid of them? The 5% Sevin dust? Something else? Things combined? And third question...do I Sevin dust the little run that the babies spend a couple of hours in during the day? The entire backyard? WTH?!? I am itching all over and totally have the heebie jeebies after seeing those little suckers!!! Need to kill them NOW! I welcome any suggestions, so please, lay them on me!!! The silkie is a little over 6 weeks old, and the polish are almost 3 weeks old...
