Kurdistan & Bread ! We kurds might not have a wide variety of bread like say the french or the finns have, but we do have what we call; kulêre, nanê tîr, both these are done in different varieties.. i.e we have tens of different kulêre and tens of different nanê tîr. Nowadays though mostly bread is prepared in ovens at home, but still kurds love to bake outside the house. Some places in Kurdistan people have common tenûrs on the field nearby where many families share. This is lovely because almost everyday you see somebody making bread. I used to look for that and whenever I saw women making bread I pretended to walk by them and use the tactic by saying : " Good day to you ladies, it is a nice day to make bread ! " To this they respond by handing me bread :-)) Then if I wished to take more bread home, I taste the bread and say ; " woow how lovely and tasty this bread is." Then I find myself walking back home with 3-4 pieces. Our kurdish women love to see others eat and praise their fresh-baked bread. Do that if you are in Kurdistan.
