Hello friends, if you have a little spare change jingling about in your pocket, please consider picking up a few supplies for your local school. Every year, teachers spend upwards of $1000 of their own money to help cover the costs of supplies. Local school systems are so strapped that they can barely cover the costs to keep the doors open. Personally, my text books are 12 years old and no longer align with diddly. Every teacher you know needs: pencils, Post-its, notebook paper, empty binders, glue, glue sticks, markers, disinfecting wipes, tissues, construction paper, copy paper, paper clips, white-out, Lysol, air freshener, index cards, file folders, and so on. We have kids who need just about any supply you can think of plus: a backpack/messenger bag, toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrush, soap, and so on. If you are thinking of ideas to treat you teacher with, consider all of the above, or gift cards to local teacher stores, big box stores, chocolate, gum, tea, coffee, thank you notes, a letter/email to the administration sharing your positive experiences with the teacher (Mrs. P helped Johnny with his math, Mr. O helped DD learn to tie her shoe, teacher was really supportive the day my child cried, she was really nice on the phone, informative in a meeting, etc.....). Please, if you have a couple extra bucks, even if you dont have a kid, help your local school system out. Your $2 in index cards may be the hook that helps a kid make a life-changing connection!
