Hello guys, I get hundreds and hundreds of email per month , through our site of Michaels Collectors, from fans asking for advice on signed memorabilia and items they have already purchased or are about to purchase. I saved many people from being scammed in these last 5 years and helped a few others to get their money back as through some legal advice, I could threat some huge scammers to stop selling fake autographs, awards and such. But its not easy at all to get your money back once you have paid and of course I cannot deal with this as Im not a lawyer and this requires a good legal knowledge too. However, the phenomenon is very very huge, bigger than you may even imagine and I feel so sorry that many fans or collectors are ripped off every day on fake items, including promo CDs, rare vinyls etc... Me and my partner contacted the Estate on this subject but they told us that they can NOT do anything. So my strong advice is: 1) Do NOT trust people on ebay or online if you dont know him/her very well 2) Do Not send huge money quickly but ask for info on the source and eventually evidence of the signed item, dating back to its history if the item is old like something of Jackson 5 for example 3) Most of all , Do NOT rely on COA (certificate of authenticity) at all as Ive seen myself tons of fake COA together with fake items, and very regretfully this happened in many auctioneers sites too. A friend of mine was scammed of 5,000 UKP for a shirt that Michael never signed but she was scammed by a COA released by a UK auctioneer who claimed it was 100% genuine when it was NOT. In fact to release a fake COA its a matter of seconds with Photoshop or paying 50-100 bucks and scammers or worthless so called experts make money on this as 100 USD multiplied for many people means $$$ 4) Ask for advice before buying a rare item and not be in a hurry to get the last piece of memorabilia, as time in these cases helps. I hope to give you some help with these tips... Michael would be appalled for this continous exploitation of his fans and collectors, so please spread the voice and lets join forces so many fans wont be ripped off. Even this is legacy...
