Hello world. Its me! It feels so good to be back in the 21st-century. My travel back in time this past week to the 1800s was an adventure to say the least. It is a story worth sharing. So, Thursday morning the day started on, what I thought was, A really positive karmic note. I was in the city for an audition to be on a TV series on A&E. I was feeling great coming off one of my greatest auditions the night before for a costarring role in a new feature movie. My audition was on 27th and I was waiting to cross the street heading north at 24th. While I was waiting to cross I could see across the street there was an older lady in at least her 80s. I saw her turn to the person to her left and say something and the person ignored her. Then I saw her turn to the right and say something to that person and that person ignored her. So, I was thinking that either she needed help or she was senile and was just talking to her self (which you see a lot of in Manhattan). Once the intersection was clear and I started walking across the street I noticed that she had a seeing-eye dog. I walked up to her as she was just standing on the street corner not moving with the rest of the people. I asked her are you okay? Do you need some help? Am I on 24th St. facing south? I am trying to walk south. I explained to her that she was, indeed, facing south and that she was on the corner of 24th and seventh. I asked her if she needed help getting across the street. Which she did. So I walked her crossed 24th and then went back on my way to the audition. On my way to the audition, I was thinking dude, you just helping old lady across the street. This is going to be a great day! I did great in the audition and then things started to take a turn for the worse. At 10:30 AM Verizon experienced a massive outage that affected not just New York City but also Boston and Washington DC. My iPhone suddenly became useless except as inexpensive way of telling me what time it is. The only caveat was that I could use my phone if connected to WiFi. Then fast-forward to about 8:30 PM that night. By this time my phone is barely hanging on with about 1% power. I came out of my kickboxing class and a bike session knowing that I needed to be at JFK for an international arrival at 9 PM. Typically with international arrivals it takes at least 30 to 45-Minutes for someone to clear customs and to get their luggage so I figured I had until about at least 9:30 PM to be there. 8:30 PM that night I was at the gym and I was able to get messages on my phone because of the free Wi-Fi at the gym. I got a message from my buddy Steve, who owns Sandg Limo telling me this guy doesnt have any luggage and has the special pass to breeze thru immigration. Hmmmm. Ok. Still not a huge deal since I can get to JFK in 20minutes. So, I click on the job text to get his name for the sign and the phone goes dead. My luck was starting to run out as the only charger I have my phone was in my backpack in the SUV. I get dressed quickly and head to the SUV and go to get my charger...no bag. Im looking everywhere. No bag. Shit. I ran inside the gym. No bag. Lost and found: no bag. The SUV was not locked and someone reached in and stole my backpack with my laptop (which had everything on it) and my charger. Also gone is my edition of Dan Browns Angels and Demons (equally as pissed thats gone as Im 400+ pages in). Time running out VIP customer expecting my ass to be standing at arrivals with a card with his name on it. I dont know his last name or flight number. Phone dead. No charger. No laptop. I haul ass to the limo company office. It is an 18-minute drive I did in 12. I log on computer. Get name. Make sign. See that flight is delayed (thank God). Haul ass to JFK. JFK is a 20-minute drive in no traffic. Im there in 15. Park. Walk inside and hold up sign for 10-seconds and the very first dude I see is the VIP. Ive been waiting 10-minutes. Buddy. You have no idea. Hahahahaha. In true Kevin Barbaro fashion...I had him laughing and sharing stories on the hour ride to his home. He forgot all about he 10-minutes and I cooled him out. He cooled out my wallet. Life is good. Looking back I was thinking...no good deed goes unpunished (blind old lady I helped...). Then, because I am eternally a glass half-full kind of guy, I made lemonade out of lemons. I ended the night with one final thought... I can only imagine how fu&$ed my day would have been had I NOT helped that old lady. Hahaha. Phone now works. Laptop gone but my book Green-Red-Green saved to google docs. Life is good. Enjoy life. #LIVIN https://indiegogo/projects/roommates-the-series-needs-you
