Hello world. My sisters beach holiday has taken a somewhat unexpected turn. We were enjoying a gorgeous walk yesterday from sisters to boat harbour when I slipped on a steep grassy slope and rolled/ twisted/ crunched and as it has turned out most definitively broke my right ankle. From there on I have felt totally blessed and privileged to live in a country with a top class ambulance service -thanks Chris and Leigh and Tasmanian ambo service; with the SES ready to get into action - thanks to the volunteers from Burnie and Wynyard who stretchered me out the 500m or so to the 4wd ambulance that had made its way down a precarious slope to get as close as possible to me, and to our public health system - in this instance the wonderful Burnie hospital where I have spent the night, had my ankle put in a temporary cast, been drugged as required, and where I now await surgery this afternoon. Im told Im going to have screws in my tibia, a metal plate on my fibula and that the scrunched end of my shin bone will sort itself out. Likely prognosis is plaster for 6 weeks and possibly a moon boot beyond that. Cest la vie. Family and friends you are all absolutely wonderful . Our walking party of 10 were magnificent. I love you all. Specially Penny. Happy birthday. I messed up the birthday dinner at Boat Harbour good and proper.
