Help a Mom Out: She writes: It has taken me quite a while to do this. How do I begin? At about two and a half years old my son was diagnosed with oppositional defiance disorder. He is now ten years old and has been to the mental health crisis center twice. The last time resulting in a two month stay in a pediatric facility. While there he was not truly diagnosed but instead treated for individual symptoms. They said he was being treated for his impulse control (Depakote) and for the depression. He left the hospital with Depakote and Calonadine (?). At the same time he was not allowed to come home with me. I had to sign guardianship papers for his babysitter to keep him (I have a bipolar disorder diagnosis and criminal background). In the last three years he has become increasingly aggressive toward himself and others. Banging his head against walls, threatening to kill himself and others. He has even threatened to kill me in my sleep. Im confused. I love my baby with all my heart but dont know what to do. How to help him understand why he feels the way he does. Please help me to help my baby?
