Help send Amy Bell to the National Track Cycling Championships and beyond... Amy Bell has been selected to represent the National Cycling Centre based in Hamilton, Ontario at the National Track Cycling Championships in Burnaby British Columbia, November 21-24, 2014 and would like your support. She will be competing as part of their under 17 Women’s team, and will be competing against Provincial teams from across the country. Amy has been cycling competitively for two years and has had considerable success at the provincial level. In the past year she won the under 19 women’s category in Le Tour de Terra Cotta 52K road race, had 15 podium finishes in the Youth Cup series, and won the Provincial Championship! The other highlight of her season was helping her team win gold in the Team Time Trial at her first international event, Le Tour de la relève internationale de Rimouski. Amy Bell is an outstanding athlete who has the potential to represent Canada in the future.” - Rick Lee, Manager / Head Coach National Cycling Centre Hamilton (NCCH). NCCH is the foremost National Development Centre for the sport of cycling in Canada and serves as a model for the future development of the sport. In 2013 they won 14 medals at the National Championships and intend to repeat their success with their 2014 team of 11 riders. “NCCH is an outstanding partner that provides opportunities for young athletes to discover the sport of cycling and to develop all the prerequisites to reach their potential and to become the next generation of champions. NCCH has an impact on the entire sport continuum including parents, coaches, schools and clubs...There is no better way to develop the next generation of champions! I wish that each province could rely on such an amazing organization.” - Mathiew Boucher - Director of Development, Cycling Canada Up to this point, Amy has been 100% self funded. Competitive cycling is an expensive sport. Costs to families are in excess of $5000 a year. This will be Amy’s third time competing outside her home province this year, and each time costs have been in the $1000 range. The estimated costs for this event are $1320.00.
