Here are my roster predictions as well (barring pick-ups from other teams) QB: Josh McCown, Mike Glennon (2/2) RB: Doug Martin, Bobby Rainey, Charles Sims, Jeff Demps, Javorskie Lane (5/7) WR: Vincent Jackson, Mike Evans, Louis Murphy, Robert Herron, Chris Owusu, Russell Shepherd (6/13) TE: Brandon Myers, Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, Luke Stocker (3/16) T: Anthony Collins, Demar Dotson, Kevin Pamphile (3/19) G: Kadeem Edwards, Patrick Omemah, Oniel Cousins, [[other G]] (4/23) C: Evan Dietrich-Smith (1/24) DE: Michael Johnson, Adrian Clayborn, William Gholston, Steven Means, Larry English (5/29) DT: Gerald McCoy, Clinton McDonald, Akeem Spence (3/32) LB: Lavonte David, Mason Foster, Danny Lansaneh, Dane Fletcher, Kalial Glaud, Johnathon Casillas, [[other LB]] (6/39) DB: Alterraun Verner, Johnathon Banks, Mike Jenkins, Leonard Johnson, Rashaan Melvin, Quintin Pointer, Dashon Golson, Mark Barron, Keith Tandy, Major Wright (10/49) ST: Connor Barth, Matt Koenen, Andrew DePaola, Solomon Patton (4/53) Notable cuts: -RB: Mike James. Yes, he rushed 100 yards for us in a game and was on a roll, but it seems like hes getting beat out by Rainey, then Sims will come back from injury since he was a mid-round draft pick this year, then Dempss potential does him in. -TE: Tim Wright. I want him on the team because I believe he can contribute, but with two added pass-catching tight ends and the need for more blocking I think he gets the axe. Hoping he stays on - if not, hope he lands with another team. His 50 catches arent to be ignored. -G: Rishaw Johnson. Came in by trade to bolster competition. I think hell make the initial 53-man roster, but then will be cut in favor of another guard or interior lineman. -T: Jamon Meredith. Might stay on as a tackle, but I think hell get cut in favor of another player cut from another team. -DT: DaQuan Bowers. People have been saying that hes been playing DT this pre-season, but the best skill is availability. Not only did Gholston and Means outplay him last season, but even Larry English came in and got two sacks in one game - they werent all 100% him, there was crappy blocking, and he might not even make the team, but he sacked the quarterback. Notable makes: -TE: Luke Stocker. I havent been his biggest fan, and hes definitely not the best blocking tight end in the league, but if he is the teams best blocking tight end right now then thats sadly saying something. I will be mad if Stocker is kept over Wright, but wouldnt be surprised to see it. -LB: Johnathon Casillas. Was kept home from the Bills game for an undisclosed team rule violation. I dont know if it was a mistake or acting out, but its not like he was a bonafide shoe-in last year or this year. His big knack was being known as the back-up linebacker from the Saints who could start for us. Its kind of hard to make the team if you break a rule, stay back home while the team travels to play a game, your back-ups perform decently, and you werent a lock anyway. Still, Tampa 2 teams are always looking for linebackers so special teams contributors and he is currently our starter. -DB: Quintin Pointer. In this passing league, even Lovie Smith knows that we need all the defensive backs we can get. Pointer might not be able to cover the zone with tall receivers, but he might be able to solidify his position by covering smaller, speedier guys in the middle with traffic.
