Here are some notes from the handbook "The Blue Print To Surviving Deportation" By Berne Velasquez. Understanding all of the above I must maintain my sanity and conduct myself as an upstanding citizen in whatever country I am deported to. 22. I must pray and put God first before all things. 23. I must try not to trust with my own understanding but believe that God knows best and make no mistakes. 24. I must now adapt to the environment and climate as quickly as possible. 25. I must learn the difference between my needs and my wants. 26. I must learn survival skills and be willing to do what I need to do in order for me to do what I want to do. 27. I must be manner able and respectful to others at all times. 28. I must learn to accept the way the people think and their way of living but still be myself as an individual. 29. I must re-educate myself to have better knowledge of my people and my surroundings. 30. I must be able to interact and live amongst the people without any obvious difference. 31. I must be myself, think for myself, and do for myself, but be aware that I am not living in this world by myself. 32. I must be kind, patient, friendly and understanding to everyone even if they are being cruel and mean to me. 33. I must practice brutal honesty and be sincere even in situations when it doesn’t seems like its to my best interest to do so. 34. I must show gratitude and appreciation for every blessing and kind act. 35. I must always be positive in every circumstance or situation however I must always be aware of the negative. 36. I must look at myself in the mirror and accept ownership that I am the reason for all my challenges. 37. I must accept ownership of the responsibility to succeed and do well despite of whatever challenges I am facing. 38. I must give the credit to God and to others who contribute to my success even if a kind word was all the contribution to my success. 39. I must accept the responsibility for all my failures and understand that failure is not an option. 40. I must take the blame for all the disappointment and let downs in my life. 41. I must be open minded at all times and try not to have any expectations at anyone else expense. 42. I must understand that I can make it on my own but when I make it… it should be for the benefit of everyone. 43. I must accept that to be recognized as good I must be 10 times better or be considered average or not good enough. 44. I must be wise enough to understand that the world will judge me but it was never between me and them its between me and God. 45. I must learn to interact and build meaningful relationships on all level if I am to succeed and survive Deportation. 46. I must take my time and move careful but be mindful not to fall behind. 47. I must be able to keep up with the youths in society and technology while I understand and associate with the elders of the nation. 48. Understanding that I must be strong to survive I must still always conduct myself in a humble manner. 48. Understanding that society is going to be judgmental of my situation I must create my own opportunities for employment and means to generate moneys and financial stability. 50. Understanding that my resources are very limited I must be very wise with my finances and economize as much as possible. 51. Understanding that time is irreplaceable, I must be wise with my time and make sure that I am focus and my attention is allocated in the right direction.
