Here is a followup story from Aubrey Killion on above-ground safe - TopicsExpress

Here is a followup story from Aubrey Killion on above-ground safe rooms and their FEMA standards. The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management tells me that if youre not sure if your shelter is certified (ie you moved into a house with an existing shelter) you can call your local Emergency Manager or FEMA contact and they can set up an inspection. The NWS said today they are hopeful structural engineers and national storm shelter experts will be able to inspect the damaged shelter which caused injury in Mayflower. I will post any updates from the reports. They say there is no reason to believe your current FEMA approved shelter will fail you. Please understand that news reporting on tornado damage is never intended to inflict emotional pain on survivors. The image from the damage assessment has been removed from this Facebook Page at the request of the family. Praying for all of you affected by this tornado.
