Here is a story inspired by the TED lollipop video: As I was shopping at Target the other day I heard a 20 something girl in a grey sweater visibly upset and complaining into her cell phone that This is the worst birthday ever. I impulsively went to the card aisle and bought her a nice musical birthday card and put a $25 gift card into the card. I wrote on the card. Everyone deserves to be happy, especially on their birthday. From, a friend. I went up to the front Target counter and the lady at the desk hesitantly with a smile on her face like I was nuts announced to the whole store: Would the woman with the grey sweater who has a birthday today please come to the front counter for your present. I think the Target employee enjoyed herself. I gave her a great story to take home thats for sure. I didnt stick around to find out what happened after that. The good work was done. My hope is that the day went from a bad birthday to a birthday present that will always be remembered and talked about. Go be attentive and listen to others around you.
