Here is some info i got from Dylan on his system he used on the Murray, He knows Seja Vu and Chris Hayward but he is not on FB I asked him for info on the solar setup and he replied I made it myself, as everyone I have seen with normal solar chargers seem to have the same problem - they dont work! It is quite a simple set-up and I bought all the parts from ebay. A basic run-down is: Solar panel connected to solar charge controller, solar charge controller connected to a battery, battery connected to a female 12v cigarette lighter plug, various 12v chargers (I have one for my camera battery, one for my mobile phone and one for charging 2 AA batteries) plug in to female plug. It cost me about $80 to make and the most expensive part was the pelican waterproof box to house the whole thing. The solar panel I used was a small waterproof panel designed for use with pond pumps. I have attached a couple of photos of the charger so you can have a look. I also modified the foot brace on my kayak so the control box sat behind my feet, out of the way. The solar panel I have is (I think) 5w. It is similar, if not the same as this one: ebay.au/itm/5W-Laminated-epoxy-solar-panel-with-Cable-and-Diode-Battery-Charger-Fountain-/261247712989?pt=AU_Accommodation&hash=item3cd393bedd&_uhb=1 The solar panel I have is (I think) 5w.
