Here is the setup for the 48-tama Chionin braid, on my core stand ô-marudai. This is considerably less cumbersome than the previous floor model ô-marudai; however, the crosspieces at the N/W ends do get in the way and require bringing the tama under them. I am going to make an new frame with only two arms, at the E/W sides, which will eliminate the N/S crossbar. This braid will be very narrow - only 4 ends of silk per tama; I expect it will be about 5mm wide.
