Heres a challenge that we can all take part in. Walk/Run or Swim 100k in 10Weeks. By walking / running 2k, 5 days a week will total 100k allowing us to exercise regularly and consistently all the way up to the week proceeding Christmas. How far is 2k I hear you ask? 2k = 1.24 miles This challenge is suitable for beginners and the advanced, you can do it alone or add it to your existing workouts. The challenge will commence this Monday 13th October and will end on 20th December. If for any reason running or walking is not for you an alternative is to swim a mile a day which depending on the length of your local pool could be between 35-40 laps. ( they should be able to advise you). Now lets be honest, swimming a mile is far different to walking a mile, so if you only manage 10 laps the first day just keep adding on to this gradually i.e add a couple of lengths every couple of days so eventually your stamina and strength will increase and swimming a mile in 10weeks will feel manageable. So, I hear you ask how do you measure your distance? Well, there are a few good free apps for the smart phone out there. Nike+running is good, Endomondo, Runtastic is another. Now, the important thing with this challenge is to make it count, which ever method you choose ensure that your heartbeat raises. So if you choose to walk let it be a brisk walk, if its to run see if you could sprint for 30secs then jog Comfortably for 10secs and keep repeating this for the duration of the 2k. So.... Whose in?
