Heres a copy of the letter that was recently submitted to the MSA newspaper and the Lincoln News for anyone who missed it: Another exciting season of snowmobiling will soon be upon us here in Enfield and the Cold Stream Sno-Riders look forward to seeing both familiar faces and new visitors out on our trails this winter. We would like to start off this season by reminding snowmobilers about the importance of positive landowner relations and the responsibility we all have to respect private property. Unfortunately, last season ended on a sour note for the Sno-Riders when we permanently lost our trail that directly linked Enfield and surrounding areas with Lincoln and points north. Remember, riding off-trail even if it is done to access a marked trail is never allowed without landowner permission. Please also keep in mind that the land we ride on could be the livelihood of its owner and it is NEVER acceptable to argue with a landowner who wishes to close or reroute a portion of a trail, regardless of their reason. It can’t be said enough how valuable private land is when it comes to recreational access. It is sometimes easy to take access for granted when out having fun, but behind every inch of trail is a landowner whose generosity makes our sport possible. These landowners can be our neighbors, coworkers, even friends and family. Snowmobilers must show respect for their property and abide by their wishes even when it means you may have to take a longer route than usual to get to your destination. When you encounter a landowner, take the opportunity to express your thanks for the privilege they have given us to be there. Please bear with us as we attempt to relocate our trail to Lincoln and be aware that previously distributed maps do not reflect this year’s trail closure. For the latest trail conditions and links to current maps, the Cold Stream Sno-Riders can be found on Facebook and our meetings are held every second and fourth Wednesday, 7pm at the Barnes Brook Golf Course in West Enfield. Be courteous, stay safe, and think snow!!
