Heres a recap of my sermon from this past Sunday at The Gathering Church of Sedalia, Missouri.... John 14:25-27 The Message (MSG) 25-27 “I’m telling you these things while I’m still living with you. The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you. I’m leaving you well and whole. That’s my parting gift to you. Peace. I don’t leave you the way you’re used to being left—feeling abandoned, bereft. So don’t be upset. Don’t be distraught. We have all felt like we didnt have a friend. We have all felt like we didnt have the answers. We have all felt like we have had no place to turn. We have all felt incomplete. We have all felt the need for peace. We have all felt abandoned at times. Oh, how the Devil attempts to deceive us!! What profound reassurance we have in The Word of God!! Amen! I have probably read this exact scripture over and over, yet It never really made sense to me until just recently. It doesnt matter how many times we read the Bible. What matters is what we hear from God as we study and meditate on it. The Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is such a blessing and gift of God, yet we tend to just acknowledge God as we know Who he is; Creator, Father, the Great I Am and many more. We probably even acknowledge God the Son, Jesus even more as: Savior, Redeemer, Teacher, and Friend. After all, Jesus was a man in the flesh! Jesus is telling us, in the scripture above, that as believers and followers of Him, The Holy Spirit is and should be a very important part of our walk with God! How else are we able to understand the scriptures, and know when God is pushing us to go, move and do as His children? Main Point: Without The Holy Spirit we are just running on our own human flesh, making decisions as if God is directing us! We NEED The Holy Spirit not only for guidance, but for the endurance to do what only God can do in and through us! David Platt makes such a powerful point in the video below regarding our country today and the importance of The Holy Spirit. I hope youll take a few minutes to watch it. Blessings, JoAnna
