Heres a reminder about legitimate vs. illegitamate door-to-door solicitors - myballard/2011/06/14/seattle-police-advice-about-dealing-with-solicitors-at-the-door/ - prompted by an incident today, described here by a neighbor on 20th near 115th: Today (10/20/14) at approximately 4:00 pm two men knocked on my front door. I asked through the door who it was and they replied Kirby Cleaning Services. I replied I was not interested and they left. I watched them walk away heading south but noticed they did not appear to go to any other houses. Feeling something seemed strange I got dressed and went looking for them. I found them at the bottom of the hill standing near the corner of Lake City and 115th. I asked them who they were and they handed me a wrinkled orange promotional flyer for Kirby carpet cleaning - the flyer listed a name & address of Lake City Distributing 12345 Lake City Way NE Ste. 372, Seattle. Neither of them could provide me with any form of legitimate identification (Washington driverss license, employee ID badge etc..). DESCRIPTION: both young black males, early 20s, approximately 511 to 6 ft tall, one had a medium build, wearing a baseball cap with visible dreadlocks. The other individual had a slim build and short afro. My instinct tells me they were either pitching a scam or scoping houses. Either way their behavior and inability to provide any legitimate identification was suspicious.
