Heres a story everyone can identify with. A tale that pits NEED vs. WANT. GODS WILL vs. MANS WILL. FREEDOM vs. BONDAGE. SPIRIT vs. HUMAN SINFUL NATURE. CONTENTMENT vs. COVETOUSNESS. All I WANTED was an iPhone. Or so I thought. What I later realized is I just wanted something new and shiny. I wanted the iPhone 6 Plus. You know the one with the bigger screen? And the fingerprint scanner? Thats really the only difference from the phone I already have (which is actually larger). But when my current phone started to experience GLITCHES and brought INCONVENIENCES... I decided to do away with it. THE BIGGER PROBLEM: I DIDNT PRAY LONG ENOUGH ABOUT THE COST OF CHANGING COURSE... THAT WAS THE BIG DIFFERENCE. (And so it is with all decisions we make with or without Gods help). I set my heart on that phone. I began to strategize on how to obtain it. Months in advance, I figured out when I could upgrade. I figured out I could finance the phone over 24 months - instead of paying $499 up front. On my dinner break I went looking for a store to buy it only to discover they closed early for the holiday. So I went online. I knew the change would increase my bill, but research online proved dissatisfying. It appeared the cost was greater than I thought. So I didnt buy it. Still, the next day I set out again to find a store. Again they closed early. So I went to a different retailer... and got as far as the register, but again there was an unexpected cost. So I said No thanks. I even toldy wife - dont let me buy another phone. Still, the next day - my phone displayed more problems and ... I GAVE IN. I went to a third retailer and bought the phone. I had it one day. And I didnt have peace. I kept thinking about the COST. $950... Even financed.. Thats too much. And why am I financing a phone. A phone? So I deleted my data off the phone and took it back. I am typing on my original phone and depots the fact it died while I typed my first version of this post - its the phone the Lord wants me to have right now. Heres the message... No matter how INCONVENIENCED you might be... No matter how many GLITCHES youre experiencing.... The issues will only be WORSE if you dont allow God to lead you in that area of your life. Scripture teaches OUR PLANS only lead to DISASTER. God cares about EVERY DETAIL of our lives. So where there is discomfort, pray and ask the Lord to teach you what to do about it. DONT GO OUT ON YOUR OWN. The cost will be greater than you expect. And listen to His voice. Where there are obvious restrictions or push back, that can be the Lord RESISITING you. Scripture tells us He RESISTS the PROUD. BUT HE GIVES GRACE AND FAVOR TO THE HUMBLE. Dont be like me. Take Gods cues. Seek Him for His WILL. Itll save you TIME, MONEY and STRESS and preserve your PEACE. FOLLOW PEACE. God bless you. FM
