Heres a tidbit of history youll only get here... My father Walter Salvas is the last living person BORN in the Dennings Point brick yard. His family was French Canadian immigrants. He was born in 1929 in the company housing on the point. His Dad, my grandfather, was tragically killed by a train in Beacon in 1932. The family was forced to moved off the Point upon his death. My Grandmother managed to raise 7 children on her own, eventually owning a brick home on Liberty Street made from DPBW brick. My Dad lives in a Brick home completely made from DPBW bricks. The irony of the story is that the author of The Point knew but omitted this story from the book. Guess the Salvas werent Beacon royalty.
