Heres a video of my buddy Gary West singin Folsom Prison Blues with his duo partner Ben Dillion on bass, and me backing him up on electric guitar. It sure does feel good to have a Telecaster back in my hands! As you can tell from this unrehearsed clip, Gary is a GREAT singer and he really has to be seen in person to fully appreciate as an entertainer. I would say without question that Gary West and Hoot Gibson taught me as much about how to entertain a crowd and play REAL country music as anyone did. This gig reminds me a lot of the good ol days of our gentlemen rockabilly trio of Gary West, Jeff Hoot Gibson and myself that we used to have in The Opryland Hotel a decade ago. The HUGE difference is the atmosphere. At the Country Style Fish House in Townsend, TN in The Smokies, I was able to bring my family to the gig. You can see my son James Myers chowin down in the lower right of the screen, occasionally singin along. The food there is unbelievable!! My kids are begging me to take them back! I think the only thing I havent had are the frog legs. The catfish, shrimp and gator were all killer!! You cant see it, but behind where James is sitting is a beautiful river. It is such a cool place to play. I hope we get to do it a LOT MORE. I HAD A BLAST LAST WEEK!
