Heres my letter to the NDP education critic; Peter Taubuns. Dear Mr. Taubuns, You say you want to cut down waste and duplication as outlined by your $100 Hydro Rebate proposal. But do you really? Why doesnt the NDP add a real proposal for savings by merging the publicly funded secular and Catholic school systems into a single, non-sectarian, public school system? Merging the Public and Separate school systems would be a progressive step that would cut waste and put money back into the public school system so that all students will have equal educational opportunities. A merger would also eliminate the hiring discrimination that take place within the Catholic boards which puts 1/3 of teaching jobs out of reach to 2/3 of teachers. Why not show true leadership?
