Heres what I know for sure: the world can look like its going to hell in a handbasket. Usually, its not. I have sat with men and women at the end of their lives and have gone down into the depths of Nazi Germany, to the most hellish human landscape imaginable. Were still here. Were still fighting, growing, loving, sharing, mourning, dying. Life is bigger than any election. Whether your people won or lost, the world goes on. Despair will turn to triumph, and triumph to despair, in time. Nothing is permanent. I am alive today, the sun is shining, my mind is sharp, my heart is open. I can still hear stories and tell them. I can continue to strive to better understand people who think differently than me. I can create the world I desire by being the kind of person I hope to elect. To live a life I am proud of is truly all I have control over. Ill let the rest go. All shall be well. All shall be well. And all manner of things shall be well.
