Here’s a “shout out” to my wife, Penny, as she heads off to - TopicsExpress

Here’s a “shout out” to my wife, Penny, as she heads off to work this morning for her last day in the “working” world. She started her teaching career in September 1969, as a fifth grade teacher and taught eight years (all but one) in the Baltimore County Public Schools before taking off seven years following the birth of Matthew, Mark and Abigail. After a seven years as a full time mom, she taught two more years on a part-time basis after Abby started school. She then worked five years for Nestle selling chocolate candy for school fundraisers. In 1992 she returned to the classroom as a sixth grade math teacher in a middle school where she taught for another seven years until being promoted to an assistant principal in a middle school in 1999. She served six years at Central Middle School in Edgewater, Maryland, followed by five more at Brooklyn Park Middle in northern Anne Arundel County, then the last three back at Central Middle, all in the Anne Arundel County (Maryland) Public Schools. That gives her almost 30 years of service to the education community where she touched the lives of so many young people, and teachers, too. Retirement brings an opportunity to work on long delayed home projects, scattered around opportunities to travel. I retired in March, 2013 so the “togetherness” begins. Pray for both of us! We mark our 43rd wedding anniversary on July 3. Penny isn’t on Facebook, but might open an account now that she is no longer in a school. Her school email address has gone away. I suspect she will sign up for email shortly….we’ll keep you posted.
