Component: Museum Service, Heritage Resource Management Services, Cape Town Department: Cultural Affairs and Sport Reference number: CAS 63/2013 Job purpose: To render a specialised professional service in terms of Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning/ Urban Design/ Heritage Studies. Minimum Requirements... Requirements: • An appropriate B-degree/ Diploma (or equivalent qualification) - NQF 7 in Urban Regional Planning/ Urban design/ Heritage Studies/ Architecture; • A minimum of 4 years administration experience; • A valid code 8 drivers licence. Job Specification... Key performance areas: • Assist with the rendering of professional heritage resource management services in terms of National Heritage Resources Act (Act 25 of 1999) and other heritage related policies and regulations; • Identifying, documenting, evaluating, protecting and promoting of heritage resources; • Advise concerned bodies / individuals on the implementation of heritage related legislation and policy; • Empowerment of communities to nurture and conserve heritage resources; • Conducting research and preparing recommendations for the permit committee, the grading committee and the Heritage Western Cape Council and / or EXCO. Competencies: • Knowledge of the following: o National Heritage Resources Act, 25 of 1999 and related regulations and policies; o Heritage-related legislation and policies; • Working knowledge of heritage resources environment; • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and report writing skills in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape; • Proven computer proficiency (MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Excel, Internet, Google Earth, Access, etc); • Research and analytical skills.
