Hey Gang: I realized this weekend that I am not the man I used to - TopicsExpress

Hey Gang: I realized this weekend that I am not the man I used to be. My father and I were riding together, and although for the most part we are polar opposites, we both share a love of automobiles. He saw a car and we pulled in to look at it. I went to it, and he came up behind me, put his hand on my shoulder, and said Son, that car is definitely you. This car was sparkly, flashy, elegant, and not at all practical. Not something that my father would even consider for himself. It had ME written all over it. I have no intention of buying it. But when my father saw it, pointed it out, showed it to me, and said what he said, I realized that he sees me and loves me for who I really am. Not an image of what he has of me. But ME. The Robert of yesteryear would not have got that. I am so glad that God has shown me the humility I needed to appreciate something so understatedly wonderful. My father, whom I always knew loved me, understands me much more than I ever realized. I was blind to something that has always been right under my nose. I am so thankful that I see it now. Thanks for listening.
