Hey all. Id be interested in starting this up again and seeing if we can muster up a community. I feel like this largely fell flat because we set the bar too high in trying to start a competitive circuit with regular events. Most places are only just taking their first steps in becoming a Pokemon Club/community. As such, I think a fun event once a year would be more than enough to kickstart this movement, and would also provide a goal in the distance people could strive to accomplish. The event I have planned in particular is an annual VGC team tournament. Clubs would bring a team of 5 students to compete, and universities would be placed in a round robin tournament followed by a top X final elimination bracket with rankings based on round robin performance. The winning university would not only get bragging rights, but I think we could all pitch in and purchase a proper award. Something like a plaque that could be sent to the winning school to hold onto for the year. Wed get it engraved with the winning school and year. Sharing the cost amongst all the member universities, this would be a pittance. e.g. abletrophies/recognitions.php?category=Plaque_Awards__Perpetual_Plaques&award=Antwerp_Cherry_12_Plate_Perpetual_Plaque How does that sound? Id love to get this in motion and have a tournament planned for the Spring Semester (i.e. late April after exams are done). That would give people a date to plan for, and something on the horizon they can get their club members excited about.
