Hey everybody, PLEASE take the time to read and SHARE. This October 26th, I will run the Marine Corps Marathon – [MY FIRST] 26.2 miles through our Nation’s capital. I will join more 30,000 runners in this amazing endeavor! razoo/story/Marine-Corps-Marathon-For-Burma-3 Will you considering supporting me by sponsoring me $1, $2, $3, $4 or $5 for each mile I run on October 26th? Or, would you like to make straight dollar commitment? Your support is tax deductible and Burma Humanitarian Mission will provide you the necessary paperwork. As you would expect, completing such a run is a phenomenal undertaking. I am fortunate to have the good health and support to pursue it. It will be a personal milestone for me that I will long remember. At the same time, I realize that this is an opportunity to translate this event into an opportunity to help others. I have joined a team called “Run for Burma.” This team is dedicated to raise awareness and funds for a wonderful non-profit -- Burma Humanitarian Mission (burmamission.org). Running a marathon is more than a personal goal -- its a journey worth every step -- because my effort will positively impact the lives of those suffering from violence and abuse. Collectively, we will raise money to fund medical training and supplies for backpack medics who travel through the jungles of eastern Burma, treating ethnic groups oppressed by the Burmese junta. Each $1 will buy 50 doses of medicine. $5 will cure a pregnant woman of malaria – saving 2 lives. $25 will buy the penicillin needed for a backpack medic team for six months – treating 2,000 people. This year Burma Humanitarian Mission will train two-thirds of all new medics while providing a million doses of medicine. Where the backpack medics can reach, deaths from dysentery are down by 51% and from malaria are down by 48%.
