Hey everybody, overly serious lengthy post time! As many/some of you know, Ill be opening for Pure Prairie League and Jonathan Edwards at The Grand Auditorium next Friday night. It is a very cool bill, and Im excited to play with such established and talented people. The concert is also, however, a fundraiser for The Maine Peoples Alliance, which is some political thing or another. Ive received some blowback for my participation, which is certainly understandable, but Id like to take a minute to be as honest as I can be with everyone. Ive never wanted to be publicly political with my music. Sure, Ive got my views, but Im sure that no one cares, so why make things weird between us? I said yes to this show STRICTLY because it is at a beautiful venue, and I get to play with some of the greats. Thats it, thats all. I DO feel like the tickets are oppressively expensive, and I think thats a shame. There are only a handful of artists I would pay $47 to see, and I realize how painful to the wallet this show is. Rest assured, Im not getting paid, and was not involved with any of the decisions involved in the show, especially pricing. Im sure that PPL and JE dont come cheap, thats the way of the world. So in closing, Ive certainly learned my lesson regarding political fundraiser shows. I honestly dont give one solitary hoot about all that noise. Honestly, it makes me a little ill. I want you all to know that I value your support of my music above all else. I write songs for human beings of all shapes and sides of the aisle. Heartbreak, joy, love, hope, pain, they all feel the same to people, regardless of which box they check in November. I love ya all, Chris Ross
