Hey everyone, Travis here – so excited to get back to D.C. for our hometown Nov 28th show at the 9:30 Club. The guys and I have been talking about some of our favorite D.C.-based songs and stories, & we’ll be posting some of them over the next 2 weeks as we get ready for the show. Heres what I think of Doctor by Priests, which just blows my mind: Barring any incredible releases in the next six weeks, for me, 2014 was the year of “Digital Witness” by St Vincent and “Doctor” by D.C.’s Priests, who we are playing with at the D.C. show. I think rock and roll has struggled with how to call out ambient bullshit in these times. Rock and roll wasn’t put on this earth to be comfortably right(eous), but what do we all do online besides that? Anyways, hearing “Somebody sell me back to me” (St. V) and “You put your fingers in other people’s mouths all day, don’t you doctor?” (Priests) in exciting music just makes me feel like the game isn’t over after all.
