Hey guys! I am an emotionally focused couple therapist and one of the core emotions I see often in relationships is fear. FEAR is the absence of love. Where there is love, there is no fear. When there is fear, there is no room for love. Do you see? Fear is an emotion. Being afraid of something whether its happening now or is in the space of the unknown is a useless emotion unless it creates an inspired movement or action that brings you close to that which will save your life (or the lives of others) and bring you to a place of courage. If you use your fear to bring you to courage, this is a great use of this emotion. However, many people use fear to serve the purpose of creating distance between themselves and what would serve the highest good. If you focus on what you fear, you will grow accustomed to fearing things you dont yet understand. You will attach the feeling of unknown circumstances (or things that dont feel good) with fear — this is a practice that creates a disconnect between you and what you want. If you were to train lions, you would naturally train yourself not to fear the lion. So if you were to desire a better career or more successful business, you would naturally want to not fear the process of building it. If you have fear in your reality at this moment, it is within your power, YOUR CHOICE, to empty the fear and fill that space with love. If you enter into a space of love, what arises will be curiosity and awe for what has yet to be experienced. And if what comes of that is something new, you must then train yourself to not be fearful of that new experience; for it may be just what your soul needs to fulfill its journey. Cheers, Joe
