Hey guys, I know most of you have gone your separate ways for the summer and are missing us terribly, so I thought for old times sake wed update you with a match report from the Somerset Open. The morning started with an m.i.a Daniel Webb, so it was left to Dominic Lyons and Anthony Gardiner to represent Plymouth over the border. The poor showing by Dan, however, this did leave more of the glory for the boys. Tonys first match was a solid 2-1 win, and was also his only match against an opponent who didnt have a senior citizens bus card. Luckily, he managed to scrape the semi-final 2-1 without breaking the old lady twice his age, and giving the run around in the D grade final to a man three times his age ... Dom played Rob the Knob (head) and after a tense first game Rob the Knob offered Dom a quick squash lesson. Dom replied with two typical masterclasses in how to hit a corkscrew and how to roll a ball out of the nick. This left the 40 plus year old Rob in a bit of sulk refusing Doms offer of a friendly chat after the game. Dom then played the other person lives on Guernsey. After a fast paced first few points, Dom decided hed had enough and walked off court fifteen minutes later with a 2-0 win under his belt #DominatingtheIslandfolk. Meanwhile on the show court Rob the Knob was playing Doms next opponent, Rager level 2. During this match Rage 2 managed to get a warning of, Do something violent again and youll be sent home. Surprisingly, the next act of violence came from Rob, who managed to mistake Ragers £110 racket for a ball and smashed it all over the court #Gameandmatch. A few hours later Dom toddled on court with a seeming calm Rager for the B grade final. Up 10-6 in the first game Rager looked cool calm and collected. However, true to form, Dom decided to stage a bit of a come back and win the first game. As a result, Rager became mildly distressed and smashed his only remaining racket into the wall ... and floor .... and wall. Cutting the rest of the story short Dom won and managed to inflate his squash ego slightly more, well done the B grade champ. Special mention goes to Plymouth old boy Nick Thompson, who managed to break the sound barrier with a squash ball. Love from, Anthony Gardiner and Hannah Corfe
