Hey..just saw this on Ron’s wall.. Posted on 4/12/13 - by Francis Cahill I was stationed with Ron at the Florida Ranger Camp. We were Lane Instructors. Harvey Watson was also stationed there. One time his parents came down to visit him just before we left for Vietnam. Ron was a person you wanted to have as a best friend. He had a dynamic personality. A true leader of men. The Christmas of 1967 he drove me to Newark airport from Florida. I lived in Boston. We went to the Panama Canal Zone in the same class. We went to Vietnam on the same plane and spent time at Cui Chi, the base camp for the 101st. The last time I saw Ron was at the airport at Phi Bi, just outside of Hue. He went to the 1st Brigade, I went to the second (2nd of the 501st). I was on a truck pulling out of the airport and he gave me a big wave goodbye. I was briefly attached to his Battalion. Capt Beautolph, the S-3 of Florida and the S-3 of that batallion, told me of his passing. Anthony Harbord was also there. He later died. Ron was a great guy. You always wanted to be with him. The world took a big loss when he lost his life. - See more at: vvmf.org/Wall-of-Faces/49781/RONALD-T-STETTER#sthash.fBYO7wTs.dpuf
