Hi All We left Port Hedland and headed inland to Karinji National Park. On the way wwe stopped at a free camp on the edge of a gorge, it was fantastic the view from our caravan window was outstanding. We were actually perched on the edge of a cliff with quite a steep fall away. Next day we moved into the park it was a well set out place, the van parks were all marked although we were in the interminable red dirt which is prevalent up here. We went on a walk to Fortescue falls, the walk was down a steep hill but once wwe got there it was fantastic. From there we walked a bit further to Fern Pools that was equally fantastic. There were a couple of kids feeding the fish of all sizes and there were a lot of them. It was very shady and cool so on a summer day it would be a great place to be. From there we went on a walk along the ridge top, there were fantastic views as the gorge was very deep something like 100m deep. We had great views from a couple of lookouts on the walk, I am not very good with heights but I couldn’t let that stop me getting some great shots. At the end of the walk there was a place called Circular Pools, it was possible to get down to them but we declined as it was late in the day and the descent was very steep. There was a family having a picnic by the waters edge. Next day we drove 60km over dirt roads to Weano Gorge, we walked along the bottom of that one. The views were spectacular there was water there, the terrain was very rocky. WA will never run out of Iron Ore as that is what all the rocks around here are made of. At the end of the gorge there was supposed to be an area we could get to but there had been recent rain and the pool was too deep and cold. With the recent rains there are heaps of wildflowers out at the moment. At all the gorges we went to there were people swimming, with the water temperature being in the mid teens I gave that a miss. We are now at Tom Price for a few days, we have booked a mine tour for tomorrow it should be great. Cheers for now Graham and Jenny.
