Hi Boys & Girls Today, Andy had an appointment with Dr. Mekhail (pain management) and Dr. Ali (oncologist). First, Mekhail. Good things! Andy’s pain pump was renewed with a morphine & bupivacaine solution which is at a higher concentration. (Bupivacaine may be spelled wrong..but it is a numbing agent). The dosages were all increased by 10%, too! This means that he gets 10% more automatically, and when he gives himself extra doses it’s going to be 10% stronger. Yay for that! Also, Lyrica was increased to help with pain and sleep. If you could send the sand man this way we would appreciate it! Ha. Next, Ali. Andy’s legs are still fairly strong, but the tumor pressing on the nerves has caused major numbness in Andy’s legs and especially his feet. This makes feeling the ground to walk a bit difficult. He’s been using a walker for several weeks, and we are going to transition to a wheelchair for safety. THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN! (are you excited?! Ha) If you have been to my parents’ house, you know it has A LOT of steps. The kitchen, bedrooms, shower, and computer area are all on different floors. Simply put, we need to find a better option so that Andy doesn’t stink or starve :p Just kidding.. but we do need a one-floor option. Here are my questions for you: 1)Do you own a rental property that you would be willing to lease us for 3 months (for now)? 2)Do you know anyone that has a rental available? 3)Do you have suggestions for living spaces? I have tried Medina County and frankly, the situation is ridiculous. Every non-profit or federally funded housing option has a 6-18 month waiting list. HOUSTON..thanks to all who have been asking about MD Anderson Research and things.. Dr. Ali and his team of superheroes have been unable to talk to the doctor we need. So..I will be calling tomorrow to set up an appointment. Flyer mile-donators..I’ll get in contact with you ASAP! Have to get an appointment set right now.
