Hi Everyone!, As promised, here are the meeting notes from when we met last Sunday (apologize for the wait, all manner of things have been going on but if youre interested, please chime in)! If the notes are easier for anyone to read in a file/word doc format, let me know. -Plan to locate a viable space that will be a permitted, aboveground venue. Goal is to establish a long-term, sustainable, all-ages community space -Ideally locate an affordable space that can accommodate shows but also be open/used during the day, i.e. shared community/gathering space. Location to be as accessible as possible & near public transport -Stephanie will check with the City of SJ on estimated cost for a sound permit -Suggested possible areas of interest: N. 10th St area around Hedding, around Senter between Story & Tully Rd, Burbank neighborhood on Bascom, and Burbank Theatre. Or a space within a shopping center might work (if other stores close down earlier, Bridgetown DIY in southern CA is successfully running out of a shopping center) *Neighbors* are very important to consider & will have a huge part in the longevity of the space (need to be individuals or businesses that are either supportive or indifferent about our presence). In Addition, we can pursue building relationships with existing places to have shows at their spaces in the meantime: Suggested places to talk to: Some churches (i.e. Unitarian church downtown might be more open to events, Stephanie knows some of the parishioners), community colleges.
