Hi Everyone, I just listened to most of the disAbility issues debate for the mayoral campaigne. I would have been there myself except that I had to work, I am greatful for this because my work is important to me. However, I feel like the time I spent on Youtube has given me a soild sence on which candidates I might consider for the election. I must say I was very very surprised to hear the comments about the disAbility issues committee all of which were not true! Aparently we ( the committee) only meet four times a year, we all got spots on the committee because we personally knew somone in office or we offered bribes for our spots, that we dont know anything about disAbility issues and on the flip side, perhaps we could all get more done if so many of us on the committee were not disAbled, what!? Also there was a comment that no city staff support is part of the committee which is not true ethier. Anyway, such bizzare comments! I would like my colleuges to know that I was elected to the committee based on a resume/interview process and an open call for applicants. I was interviewed by a city staff and three city counsellors about how the city could become more accessible. And it turns out that I got a spot as an independant (meaning I was not representing an agency). It feels oddly important to make this clear. I do hope that you are all well.
