Hi Everyone, I just wanted to share these photos that came from one of our followers. Thank you Laird for sharing them with us. These show a Merlin (a smaller species of falcon) that was recently spotted in South Utica. They are similar looking to Peregrines but if you look closely you can see the different facial features. Merlins lack the strong helmet feature that Peregrines have. Merlins are also smaller than Peregrines. However as you can see by the photos they are quite fierce with regards to their prey as are Peregrines and all raptors.
