Hi Everyone! We are now in Phoenix. Had some stellar rides through the mountains and desert. I wake up early on the bus so I can see the country. It’s just beautiful. I’m sorry to the people who haven’t got all the autographs and pictures they wanted. I hate it when I get stroppy but there are some people (they want them for ebay) who get really aggressive if you don’t sign a stack of things. I’ve been in high speed car chases with those guys many times. I know it’s all part of it and I should be used to it but it wears you down and then you end up taking it out on the wrong person. Because of those ‘professional autograph hounds’ I’ve made pledges to myself over the years to NEVER SIGN ANYTHING ever again. I remember a girl at one of the Fairground Boys shows a few years ago who tore up a ‘vintage’ Pretenders album in spectacular fashion and threw it in my face saying “ Morrissey signed everything!”. And some people who did the same at a gig in Germany. (except they didn’t mention Moz) I last about two days refusing and then start signing babies and toilet seats again. As far as mobile phones…………again - sorry to disappoint. Don’t take it personally. Just turn the phone off and everybody’s happy. There simply is no protocol anymore and I never liked cameras in the first place. (I have now got used to moving 3 or 4 times to different seats in movie theatres to get away from someone texting in front of me. I guess I just don’t have other important business to attend to while I’m TRYING TO WATCH A FILM! ) But these are minor points compared to what amazing audiences we’ve had and the chance to meet so many lovely people. And I wanted to say ‘cheers’ to the guy dancing throughout the Salt Lake City show wearing the Black Keys T shirt. You made it so much fun. And all the crazy go-go dancers up the front - nice one girls! Never stop! Later………xch
