Hi Folks. OK with regret we are going to have to postpone the Dean Doubles to Nov 22nd/23rd this is for a number of reasons. firstly after Tonin, Ant, Heather, James and the gang spent Saturday in the rain repairing the race trail, (the FC contractors have laid down a huge amount of shale on over a mile of the course) that it just cannot be cleared away sufficiently in time to make it runnable on, the back up trail is booked for a fishing competition (if you remember the angry fisherman from last years ABSA race?) so we cant use those trails and someone is also hosting a massive charity dog walk without informing the FC or anyone else, so we would have had a couple hundred pet dogs descending onto the race trails and causing danger to everyone ( I have emailed the organiser regarding this but they have not replied ! the FC are now aware but we cannot get anything done in time ) and to top it all off the Met office are forecasting 20c+ heat for next weekend (where the hell did that come from!) Graham having checked with his mates at the met office and some meteorologists buddies, they are all confirming a late Indian summer for next weekend with over night temps in high teens and high humidity and around 20c during the day... not good for running dogs in! so we made the decision this morning to move the dates to what was going to be the UCSC race. HUGE thanks to Tonin and Vicky who have suggested we use that date as their Pembrey one is now cancelled for much the same reasons regarding the trails. it will also give folks more time to get entries in and to get more miles on their teams. IF you cant make that weekend we will refund your entry fee. on the plus side we will have time next weekend now to go and xheck out 2 potential new trails that have not been used and could yield some good locations away from the maddening crowds at Beechenhurst and Mallards Pike Lakes.... will keep everyone up dated on that! sorry folks but we cant do owt about the weather, idiots and contractors.
