Hi....Hope you are doing well I am glad to introduce you to the second edition of Global Himalayan Expedition. After the success of its first edition in 2013, Global Himalayan Expedition 2014 is back and the registrations are open now. We have a revamped and exciting new website - ghe.co.in In addition to the Tri-Adventure activities (hiking, cycling, rafting), this year expedition will focus on providing energy access to remote Himalayan regions. The expedition team will be involved in setting up a DC Solar Micro Grid in one of the villages already identified as part of the 4 day long trek. We already have set up an Education Base in Leh and in April we have experts from UK coming to design the curriculum for the School. Electrification through centralized grid and power line distribution has not reached these sparsely located rural mountain communities, due to low demand and high cost of providing energy access. The expedition team looks at setting up these sustainable and socially oriented Infrastructures, owned and maintained by the local communities. These sustainable solutions will enable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and protect the fragile eco-system, which in turn will also enable increased income generation activities in the region. From Yale School of management to Kellogg Innovation Network to sustainability experts from Bain, last year the expedition attracted a unique set of talented and diverse set of participants. We make a conscious effort in maintaining an optimal group size of 25 participants that would enable the members to effectively bond with each other. We are looking to finalize the GHE-2014 team by 30th April2014.
