The revised rates will be effective from 25 June 2014. 2. Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on 17 June 2014 issued new norms for public issuance of debt securities. The new norms were issued with a view to tighten the norms governing the public issue of debt securities. 3. Reserve Bank of India on 18 June 2014 asked banks to disclose sector-wise advances in the Notes to Accounts to the financial statements from financial year 2014-15 onwards. 4. Tang Prize Foundation announced the inaugural Tang Prizes on 18 June 2014. The Prize will be given in four categories of Sustainable Development, Sinology, Biopharmaceutical Science and The Rule of Law. 5. Union Government on 20 June 2014 constituted an independent High Level Committee to inquire into the incident of gas leakage in Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh that occurred on 12 June 2014. The Committee has been asked to submit its report by 17 July 2014 6. Noted Hindi poet Kedarnath Singh on 20 June 2014 was chosen for the prestigious Jnanpith award for 2013. He is the 10th Hindi writer to receive the honour and is the 49th recipient of Jnanpith award 7. Juergen Stock of Germany on 17 June 2014 was selected as the candidate of INTERPOL’s Executive Committee to be next Secretary General of the world’s largest international police organisation, INTERPOLM Shashidhar Reddy, the Vice Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on 17 June 2014 resigned from his post. He sent his resignation to Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, who is also the chairman of NDMA. 8. India-born Pratishtha Khanna was honoured with Champions of Change by the White House on 17 June 2014. She is one of 10 local Champions of Change honoured for their exemplary leadership in their communities. 9. Salman Rushdie, the India-born Booker Prize winning author on 20 June 2014 was named as the winner of 2014 Pen Pinter Prize. 10. Rajeev Topno was appointed as Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC) approved the name of Topno on 18 June 2014. 11.
