Hi. I have never had a rant on Facebook...but I have to. I have been a bass player since I was 15 years old. I would fall asleep with the instrument in my hands growing up. In summertime, I would up practice up to 8 hours a day trying to master it as much possible. I have played with many great local musicians. I have played in heavy metal, jazz and Greek wedding bands. I put the instrument down for about 6 years and didnt play it. Dont ask me y. I must have lost my mind. Music is very deeply rooted in me. It is one thing other than my friends and family that I truly love. I would lose my eyesight rather than my hearing if I has to choose. Recently, (forgive the language) I had an a**h**e egocentric local guitarist refer to the instrument I play and love as an accompaniment instrument. As in, filling in the void. I think this prick must have played with his Casio keyboard too long as a child . He should also get his head out of a**. Apparently, his farts dont stink so he likes to suck em down and enjoy them while playing his guitar. I have met a few people that are legends in their own mind or their basement or both when they play. I have always tried to learn and be a student all my life. That is the only way to grow in anything you love to do....even in the workplace. Bass guitar/music taught me discipline in school. It truly molded me as a person. Plus it was great for a my self esteem. So when I have this bu**ho** practically insulting me directly to my face this shows he has no true concept of the instrument is and what its importance is....he can go screw an amplifier when it is plugged in. Go play some skynard in a ditch... or better yet, in the middle of a busy hiway. Since picking up the bass, for the last 2 months I have been working on a violin sonata from Bach. It is the hardest piece of music I have learned. It is the first section of Bach, violin sonata in B minor double presto there are a few mistakes but it will take me another 6 months to getting it to sound a little smoother. I wanted to show this rocker that the bass isnt an accompaniment instrument. Maybe in the garbage you play but not the stuff I listen to... This may seem trivial to people who dont play instrument. I apologize for the length. I thought the best way to show what can be done if u practice and put your mind to it. I have heard bassists play unbelievable things. This to me is my little drop in the sea of massive talent. After all, I am a student and always will be. To that guitar player na pas na gameethees (that is a really bad Greek word(s) so I wont translate.
