“Hi, Ryan… You’ve got the job!” I’ll never forget that call. My dad had been sick in hospital all week and during the madness I’d forgotten even doing the interview. I hadn’t slept all night and here was this energetic Southerner mimicking my Northern accent on the phone, telling me I had just received the job of a lifetime, a place at the BBC, a place on the scheme she started. What followed were years of training, mentorship, friendship and guidance. Guidance that no one person really deserves and guidance that only a few special people ever really give. I know today that I’m just one of hundreds of people who feel this gratitude and I’m happy to know that, like all of these people, my entire path was somehow altered by one special woman and her unselfish ability to nurture every individual she met. RIP Claire Prosser.
